Following the 7th ACHAP Biennial conference in February 2015, the ACHAP HIV/AIDS technical working group was formed. The TWG is represented by HIV/AIDS programming experts from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Nigeria. The TWG is led by the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) which currently chairs the TWG and facilitated by the ACHAP Secretariat.
The purpose of the ACHAP HIV/AIDSTWG is to serve as a technical reference group on HIV/AIDS programming related to prevention, screening, treatment, care, support services and health systems necessary for effective HIV/AIDS programming.
Through regular virtual and face to face meetings, the members of the TWG will have the opportunity to exchange, share, learn and collaborate on key HIV/AIDS issues affecting faith based services in Africa. The team will also support advocacy efforts of ACHAP board, secretariat and members at all levels, national, regional and global.
Partners working closely with the HIV/AIDS TWG include IMA World Health and the USAID Funded, AIDSFree project that seeks to enhance paediatric care and treatment among other areas.
