ACHAP partners with AstraZeneca to implement the HHA programme in Côte d’Ivoire.

ACHAP is honoured to announce a new partnership with AstraZeneca to implement the Healthy Heart Africa programme in Côte d’Ivoire. HHA is an initiative by AstraZeneca that contributes to prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases with a focus on hypertension.

The two-year implementation will be led by ACHAP’s in-country partner, Initiatives Chrétiennes Pour la Promotion Humaine (ICPH), to further early detection, prevention, and control, strengthen health systems through training of healthcare providers, and implement local treatment protocols to standardise care in Côte d’Ivoire.

Speaking on the importance of access to healthcare  in building sustainable health systems, ACHAP Co-ordinator, Ms. Nkatha Njeru stated:

“By bridging some of the gaps that hinder access to healthcare services, especially for low income and marginalised communities, we hope to improve health outcomes for hypertension treatment and management. Through the HHA programme, we will leverage our extensive network to provide equitable access to quality healthcare in the country and promote capacity building for our healthcare providers.”

The programme was launched on 24th September 2021 in Abidjan, at an event attended by representatives of AstraZeneca, the Ivorian Ministry of Health, ACHAP, and ICPH, among other key stakeholders.
